Student Senate Positions:
CLASS YEAR REPRESENTATIVES:
Each class year has elected representatives to serve as a liaison between their constituent class year and the Senate (two senators for the senior, junior, and sophomore classes; three for the first-year class). Class-year representatives connect with their constituents on various Senate matters and host events to address issues or concerns of their class, and meet with their respective Class Dean to discuss the state of their class. Additionally, representatives serve on the Campus Affairs and Involvement Boards of SGA.
CURRICULUM SENATOR:
The Curriculum Senator attends all meetings of the faculty Curriculum Committee (the governing body for course approval and review) and liaises between the committee, the Secretary of Academic Affairs, and the Senate. The Senator appoints two additional students to sit on the Curriculum Committee and its subcommittees and also serves on the Campus Affairs Board of SGA.
STUDENT LIFE SENATOR:
The Student Life Senator attends all meetings of the faculty Student Life Committee (the governing body faculty-student interaction) and liaises between the committee, the Secretary of Academic Affairs, and the Senate. The Senator appoints four additional students to sit on the Curriculum Committee and its subcommittees and also serves on the Campus Affairs Board of SGA.
MULTICULTURAL STUDENT SENATOR:
The Multicultural Student Senator is the liaison between the Senate and multicultural students/organizations on campus. The Senator connects regularly with the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion and other relevant offices to advance the support and experience of multicultural students on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board of SGA.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SENATOR:
The International Student Senator is the liaison between the Senate and international students/organizations on campus. The Senator connects regularly with the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion and other relevant offices to advance the support and experience of international students on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board of SGA.
GENDER & SEXUALITY SENATOR:
The Gender & Sexuality Senator is the liaison between the Senate and students/organizations involved with gender and sexuality issues on campus. The Senator regularly connects with the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion and other relevant offices to advance the support and experience of students on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board of SGA.
DISABILITY & ACCESS SENATOR:
The Disability & Access Senator is the liaison between the Senate and students/organizations involved with gender and sexuality issues on campus. The Senator regularly connects with the Disability and Access Center, TRiO SSSD, and other relevant offices to advance the support and experience of students with disabilities on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board of SGA.
INTERFAITH SENATOR:
The Interfaith Senator is the liaison between the Senate and students/organizations involved with religious and faith issues on campus. The Senator regularly connects with College Ministry, the Lutheran Center, and other relevant offices to advance the support and experience of students of all faith backgrounds on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Board of SGA.
ENVIRONMENTAL SENATOR:
The Environmental Senator is the liaison between the Senate and students/organizations involved with environmental and sustainability issues on campus. The Senator regularly connects with the Sustainability Committee and other relevant offices to advance awareness of sustainability efforts on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Community Impact Board of SGA.
INTERCAMPUS LIAISON:
The Intercampus Liaison is the liaison between the Senate, St. Olaf students, and the Carleton Student Association (CSA). The Senator regularly connects with CSA leadership and membership to foster cross-campus information sharing and collaboration. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Community Impact Board of SGA.
STUDENT ATHLETE LIAISON:
The Student Athlete Liaison is the liaison between the Senate and student athletes. The Senator regularly connects with the Student Athlete Advisory Board and Athletics to advance the support and experience of athletes on campus. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Campus Affairs Board of SGA.
STUDENT ALUMNI LIAISON:
The Student Alumni Liaison is the liaison between the Senate and alumni. The Senator regularly connects with Alumni and Parent Relations to connect students with St. Olaf alumni. Additionally, the Senator serves on the Campus Affairs Board of SGA.
