Starting an Organization
1. New organizations may initiate the recognition process at any time before April 30 during the academic year. Recognition packets are available on-line: http://www.oleville.com/forms/soc-organization-recognition/.
2. In order to be considered for recognition, an organization must be comprised of at least four St. Olaf students (including the initiator), comply St. Olaf policies and procedures, and benefit some important aspect of the St. Olaf community in order to be considered for recognition. They must also present the following material to the SOC:
- Copy of the organization constitution and/or by-laws
- Up-to-date list of officers of facilitator(s) and members each semester
- Names of national or state affiliation, if applicable
- Statement of agreement to abide by St. Olaf College and SGA policies, which exists on the petition, which on the petition forms
- Willingness to meet SOC Coordinator or his/her representative from the SOC upon request
- Brief listing of planned events of the year
- Name of a faculty/ staff advisor
3. A student organization shall not be recognized by the SOC until the recognition process has been completed.
